Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Scattering amplitudes and the Galois theory of Periods

We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant position to work with Professor Francis Brown and Professor Lionel Mason at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. The project is to develop the mathematics of scattering amplitudes and connections with algebraic geometry, in particular the Galois theory of periods. This is a fixed term position funded by ERC until 28 February 2022.

The successful candidate will be a member of a research group with responsibility for carrying out research as part of the project. The successful candidate will provide guidance to junior members of the research group including research assistants, PhD students, and/or project volunteers.

Applicants will be expected to have, or be close to completing, a PhD in mathematics or a related discipline. They will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes together with the ability to manage their own academic research and associated activities.
