We invite applications for a Post Doctoral Research Associate to work in the EPSRC Cambridge Mathematics of Information in Healthcare Hub (CMIH) at the University of Cambridge.

The Hub is a collaboration between mathematics, statistics, computer science, medicine, and clinicians, and aims to develop rigorous and clinically practical algorithms for analysing healthcare data for personalised diagnosis and treatment as well as target identification and validation at the population level. Furthermore, this will focus on some of the most challenging public health problems, namely: cancer, cardiovascular disease, and dementia.

The research activity of the successful candidate will take place within one or more of the multidisciplinary projects run between investigators within the Hub. Particular focus of the hub are the integration of imaging and non-imaging healthcare data, the design of hybrid mathematical and machine learning methods, and minimal supervision algorithms that can work in a small data regime. This is an exceptional opportunity to conduct ambitious research whilst collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.

Duties include developing and conducting individual and collaborative research objectives, proposals and projects. The role holder will be expected to plan and manage their own research and administration, with guidance if required, and to assist in the preparation of proposals and applications to external bodies. You must be able to communicate material of a technical nature and be able to build internal and external contacts. You may be asked to assist in the supervision of student projects, the development of student research skills, provide instruction and plan/deliver seminars relating to the research area.

Applicants must have (or be about to receive) a PhD degree in mathematics or statistics (or a closely related discipline). The ideal candidate will be experienced in one or more of the following areas: statistical shape analysis, functional data analysis, longitudinal data analysis, machine learning, inverse problems, computational analysis, optimisation and/or data science. Experience in parallel computing and C programming skills are desirable.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
