We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Algebraic Systems Biology to work with Professor Heather Harrington at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. The position is full time, fixed-term for 12 months, and supported by a research grant from the Leverhulme Trust. The funding can support relocation costs of up to £2,000.

The successful candidate will join the Algebraic Systems Biology group at Oxford, and will be responsible for carrying out research in applied algebra and/or topology for biological systems. They will write up their results for publication, present papers at conferences, and organise activities relevant to this group, alongside managing their own academic research and administrative activities.

Applicants will have, or be close to completing, a PhD in applied/computational algebraic geometry, applied/computational algebraic topology, algebraic biology or a related discipline. They will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in applied algebra and/or topology, data analysis, computational or mathematical biology, and have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings. Prior experience of computer programming, or of working with data, is desirable, as is an interest in mathematical research which is motivated by, or intended to solve, a bio-medical question.
