Postdoc position in the NCN grant OPUS “Optimal Representation of Dynamical Systems”

announces an open call
for a full-time temporary research post-doc position, financed by a National Science Center (Poland) OPUS project
“Optimal Representation of Dynamical Systems”
(Principal investigator: dr hab. Yonatan Gutman, prof. IM PAN)
for a period of 2 years at its branch in Warsaw, Poland, to start between 01.09.2022 and 28.02.2023 (exact date to be agreed upon), for candidates from Poland or from abroad.
The position is without teaching duties. It is expected that the candidate will collaborate with the Principal Investigator and actively conduct research in topics related to the project (details are available by e-mail from the Principal Investigator).
Qualifications
The candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, obtained before the beginning of the contract. The Ph.D. degree must not have been obtained more than 7 years before the starting date. This period may be extended in some cases in particular in case of child birth, parenthood breaks and/or sickness leaves.
The candidate must have experience and/or strong research potential in the theory of dynamical systems especially in ergodic theory and topological dynamics. Expertise in information theory, the theory of stochastic processes or fractal geometry is an advantage.
In the last two years before the beginning of the employment, the candidate was not employed at Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
