Doctoral and postdoctoral positions in Mathematics
Applications are invited for doctoral and postdoctoral positions in Mathematics within the Research Training Group Energy, Entropy, and Dissipative Dynamics at RWTH Aachen University (Germany),
starting January 1, 2022 or later.
The program will provide doctoral researchers with a quality education in analysis, modeling, and numerics in the fields of nonlinear partial differential equations and applied mathematics. Carefully selected research projects—tied together by the use of energy and/or entropy functionals and their dissipation mechanisms as a tool for understanding the properties of the system and the admissible dynamics—will introduce doctoral researchers to relevant and challenging topics at the forefront of current mathematical research.
Employment will be for three years.
The postdoctoral researchers supported by the RTG will have an outstanding research and training opportunity. Positioned at the cutting edge of hot topics in applied and numerical analysis related to energy, entropy, and dissipation, the postdoctoral researchers will jointly identify and tackle problems in consultation with the PIs. They will explore questions that are close enough to their doctoral training to get off to a good “running start,” but far enough away from their past training so that they will develop a new and significant research direction. The goal is to position them well for a future academic post.
The initial contract is for two years, with the possibility of an extension to three years.
All positions are funded by German Research Foundation (DFG).
Applicants are asked to consult the webpage www.rwth-aachen.de/jobs for additional information about the application process.
