Postdoc in Applied Algebra and Topology at Oxford
We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work with Professor Heather Harrington on an exciting project in applied algebra for data science with applications to biology. This is a full-time position, fixed-term for 20 months, and is supported by a research grant from the Royal Society. The funding allows for up to £2,000 towards relocation.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Algebraic Systems Biology group with responsibility for carrying out research in applied algebra and/or computational topology for biological systems and assist in organising activities relevant to this group. They will write up their results for publication, present papers at conferences and contribute ideas for new research projects, whilst also managing their own academic research and administrative activities. They will also be involved in student projects and/or outreach activities.
You will have, or be close to completing, a PhD in in applied/computational algebraic geometry, applied/computational algebraic topology, data science/networks or a related discipline, and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in applied algebra and/or topology, algebraic statistics, machine learning, and/or computational biology to be able to work within established research programmes. You will have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings, alongside the ability to manage your own academic research and associated activities.
