PhD Positions, Graduate School “Interfaces, Complex Structure, and Singular Limits”, Regensburg-Erlangen
The Research Training Group “Interfaces, Complex Structures, and Singular Limits in Continuum Mechanics” (DFG-Graduiertenkolleg 2339) announces the opening of7 Doctorate positions (for 3 years)
at the Departments of Mathematics of Universität Regensburg and of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg.
The positions are starting as soon as possible.
The Research Training Group focuses on the development of new mathematical tools in modeling, analysis, and numerics with the perspective to understand complex phenomena observed in fluid mechanics, material sciences, biological systems, and other applied sciences. Typically, modelling approaches will involve nonlinear partial differential equations.
The doctoral programme offers a structured course programme in partial differential equations, calculus of variations, numerical analysis, scientific computing, mathematical modeling, and professional skills. Doctoral researchers of the Research Training Group benefit from numerous possibilities of scientific exchange both on the national and on the international level.
The prospective applicant for a doctorate position should hold a Diploma or Master degree in mathematics or in a closely related field. Applicants are asked to submit a CV, copies of certificates of academic qualifications held, a study track record, a copy of a degree thesis, and a statement of the scientific interests. Applications should be sent electronically to
harald.garcke@ur.de or guenther.gruen@fau.de
Compatibility of family and work is promoted at both universities. Female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply. Equal opportunity is an essential element of our personnel policy.
