Professorship (W3) “Mathematics – Stochastic Analysis” at TU Berlin
Technische Universität Berlin, Faculty II – Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institute of Mathematics invites applications (deadline November 18th, 2022) for the permanent position of a University Professor – salary grade W3 for the field of “Mathematics – Stochastic Analysis”
Working field:
The successful candidate will represent the field of stochastic analysis in its entire breadth in research and teaching,
substantially expand the expertise available at the Institute with contemporary and topical research topics in stochastic analysis,
be able to significantly strengthen existing (IRTG 2544, BMS, MATH+) and planned collaborative projects related to the field of stochastic analysis.
Responsibilities will include teaching in the mathematics courses (including undergraduate) and appropriate participation in the Mathematics Service.
Duties also include supervising students in the preparation of theses and appropriate participation in academic self-governance tasks.
Further tasks include leadership and management of the department and of staff, promotion of young scientists, women and social diversity, knowledge and technology transfer, initiatives for internationalization as well as gender- and diversity-competent and sustainability-oriented action.
Requirements:
Successful applicants must fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance with § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act).
It is expected that this professorship will be filled by an internationally established scientist who:
has a proven track record in areas of stochastic analysis through high-profile publications (e.g. Annals of Probability, Probability Theory and Related Fields, Annals of Applied Probability),
has appropriate teaching experience ,
come with experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, e.g. with other mathematical disciplines, physics, biology, or data science,
has a successful record of acquiring third party funding,
is active in early career training, especially with regard to PhD students/postdocs.
Experience in academic self-governance is desirable.
As an international university, we require a good command of English and welcome applications from non-German-speaking scientists who are willing to learn German in the near future.
