Five Year research and Teaching postdoctoral position in Mathematics
Total remuneration is in the range £41,542-£47,426 (inclusive of a housing allowance).
St John’s College invites applications for a 5-year postdoctoral position in mathematics (known as a Supernumerary Teaching Fellow in Mathematics) from 1 October 2023. The successful candidate will combine an outstanding programme of research in any area of mathematics with small group teaching to mathematics students of the College in the first four years of the position. The fifth and final year of the appointment is a research sabbatical year.
St John’s College is one of the larger constituent colleges of the University of Oxford, and the appointee will be a member of both the College and the University.
Applicants will have or be close to completing a PhD in Mathematics (to be obtained by 1 October 2023). They will be able to demonstrate the potential to deliver an outstanding programme of research (relative to the early career nature of the post), the ability to teach effectively, the interpersonal skills for the pastoral care of students, and the ability to contribute effectively towards the organisation of mathematics teaching in St John’s.

• a covering letter which details how they meet the selection criteria.
• a curriculum vitae with details of qualifications and experience, and a list of publications
• a statement of which courses from the first and second years they are willing to teach in tutorials (both from the lists in the essential criteria, and other courses from prelims and part A)
• a statement of current research interests, and research plan for the 5 years of the fellowship.
Candidates must also provide the names of two academic referees who should be asked to email their references to the same address.
