Professorship in pure Mathematics (W2) (f/m/d) – Differential Geometry
The department for Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Cologne announces a vacancy for a Professorship in pure mathematics (W2) to be filled as soon as possible. The position is in the field of Differential Geometry. Active participation in the existing Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio (CRC/TRR 191)„Symplectic Structures in Geometry, Algebra and Dynamics“ is considered essential.
The duties of the professorship include active participation in teaching responsibilities as well as in the academic self-administration.
The applicant should be an internationally recognized expert in a current field of research in Differential Geometry (e.g., Riemannian geometry, symplectic geometry, metric geometry, Kähler geometry, discrete geometry), in order to allow further cooperation and the creation of focus points within the existing research groups.
A successful track record in acquiring research funding is desirable. Special emphasis is additionally placed on the quality of teaching.

The position is available as of at the earliest possible date. Formal requirements are detailed in Section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz – HG NRW). As a rule, the teaching load comprises nine semester hours per week (i.e., two hours per week is one 90-minute course per semester).
