The Institute of Mathematical Stochastics of the Georg August University of Göttingen invites
applications for a Postdoc position (f/m/d) in
All Areas of Probability, Statistics and Data Science
starting from August 1, 2023 or later for a duration of two years. The salary is in accordance with the
German public service salary scale (E13 TV-L) at 100% of the regular working hours (currently 39.8 hours
per week).
We are looking for highly motivated applicants with a very good PhD thesis in probability theory,
statistics or a closely related field.
The applicant’s current or planned research should have some proximity to the research groups at the
Institute of Mathematical Stochastics (Applied and Mathematical Statistics, Spatial Stochastics, Statistics
on Non-Euclidean Spaces, Stochastics and its Applications; for details
see http://www.stochastik.math.uni-goettingen.de/index.php?id=research). The postdoc is invited to
associate with the research groups and will be hosted by a group of his choice.
Potential research areas include but are not limited to:
– Branching and interacting particle systems
– Theory and statistics of optimal transport
– Random Graphs
– Non-Euclidean Statistics
– Spatial stochastic processes and spatial statistics
Finishing a habilitation or the willingness to work toward it is very welcome. The position comes with
teaching duties for an equivalent of four lessons per week during the semester. This may include
tutoring for exercises, joint supervision of seminars, and possibly holding of specialized lecture. Good
English language skills are mandatory; German language skills are useful but not strictly required at the
beginning.
