The unit for Mathematics within the Division of FEM (Physics, Electronics and Mathematics), Linköping University is engaged in education and research in mathematics, primarily related to technical education and applications. Within mathematical research, studies include topics such as inverse and ill-posed problems with applications. Examples of recent research areas include AI, mathematical oncology, image processing, and object identification using Wi-Fi signals. Development of digital educational tools is also an important part of the activities. Much of the work is carried out in collaboration, both internally within the academic institution and with schools in the area.
