The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf invites applications for an
Assistant Professorship (W1) without Tenure Track in
Biostatistics
to take up appointment as soon as possible.
We are seeking an individual with an internationally visible research profile in the field of biostatistics or biometric statistics, who has also demonstrated experience in an interdisciplinary collaboration with disciplines such as pharmacy, toxicology, or medicine. A research focus in one of the three project areas “Regression”, “Prediction”, and “Integration” of the Research Training Group 2624 “Biostatistical Methods in High-Dimensional Data in Toxicology” (https://grk2624.statistik.tu-dortmund.de/en) is desirable.
A PhD in mathematics or statistics, or a PhD with a strong mathematical-statistical background, as well as a scientific track record documented by publications in high-level biometrical or statistical journals are required.
Of advantage are initial experiences in university teaching and competence in teaching at the university level, as well as initial experiences in acquiring third-party funding or scholarships and in leading research projects. International research experience as well as experience in university administrative activities are also an asset.
It is expected that the successful candidate is willing to acquire competitive third-party funding, to participate, in particular, in the RTF 2624, but also in other existing and future research networks, and to collaborate across disciplines with working groups in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science and, e.g., the Medical Faculty of the HHU as well as with extra-university research institutes such as the Leibniz Research Institute for Environmental Medicine (IUF) in Düsseldorf.
Professional duties also include teaching mathematics/statistics at bachelor and master level for students of the mathematical and other institutes as well as participating in the academic administration of the university.
