The Faculty of Mathematics/Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering of the Clausthal University of Technology is seeking to appoint the position of University Professor (Salary Scale W2 NBesO) „Discrete Optimization” (m/f/d) at the Institute of Mathematics as soon as possible.
We expect that the professorship represents current mathematical research topics in discrete optimization with high relevance and potential for connections to the strengths and focal points of Clausthal University of Technology. Specifically, the successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in at least one of the following areas:
– Nonlinear models
– Stochastic models
– Models with differential equations
– Real-time/online optimization
– Intersection with methods of machine learning
We are looking for internationally recognized personalities with a research area that complements the existing focus areas at the Institute of Mathematics. The position holder should actively participate in the further development of the research profile of mathematics as well as in the design of the study program “Industrial/Applied Mathematics”. She/he should have proven expertise in interdisciplinary work and in solving application problems, and her/his possible fields of application should fit the research directions of the TU Clausthal.
In teaching, participation in the Bachelor’s program “Industrial/Applied Mathematics” including basic mathematical education and teaching in the consecutive Master’s program (e.g., Introduction to Optimization, Advanced Optimization, Approximation Algorithms) as well as in the service offering for other subjects (e.g., Mathematics for Business Administration and Chemistry, Optimization Heuristics) is expected.
