PhD University Assistant Prae Doc
The Econometrics group at the Institute of Statistics and Mathematical Methods in Economics invites applications for a PhD position (university assistant prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Earliest starting date: February 2024.
Tasks:
Conduct research leading to peer-reviewed articles and a PhD dissertation
Assist in teaching (including evaluations, exams and guidance of students)
Participation in scientific functions (conferences, workshops, summer schools, etc.)
Assistance/Collaboration in administrative and organizational tasks of the research unit
Your profile:
Completed Master’s Degree or equivalent (e.g., Dipl.-Ing., Mag.), in Mathematics, Statistics or related field
Strong interest in research
Experience/interest in High-Dimensional Statistics, such as Model Selection and Penalized Estimation
Good communication and writing skills in English
Preferably knowledge of German

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,458.00/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
