Analysis and its Applications (W3)
We are inviting applications for the position of full professor in the area of analysis and its applications, to be filled as soon as possible. Candidates are expected to have distinguished expertise and a visible research agenda in the field of analysis with a clear application orientation, for example towards information processing or data science. Relevant research topics include the mathematical foundations of machine learning, mathematical signal- or image processing, optimization in the context of information processing, high-dimensional approximation or probability theory, or stochastic processes. Excellent applications from other areas of analysis are explicitly welcome. The research profile shall complement meaningfully existing research topics of the collaborative research center “Sparsity and Singular Structure” of the Department of Mathematics and facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations. A track record of successful acquisition of third party funding is required. Adequate participation in the teaching obligations of the Department of Mathematics is part of the duties of the professorship.
