Post Doc University Assistant

At the Institute of Statistics and Mathematical Methods in Economics, in the Research Unit of Probability, TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (non-tenured post-doctoral position), limited to expected 6 years for 40 hours/week. Expected start: September 2024.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct a high quality research program in the field of Probability Theory. The candidate will also contribute to the teaching mission of the research unit.

Applications should include a motivation letter, a Curriculum Vitae with publication list, a research statement containing a brief description of research achievements and a research plan, copies of academic credentials. The application should also include the name of two referees who can provide recommendation letters upon request.
Tasks:
Conduct high quality mathematical research (both independently and with the other members of the research unit) in the field of Probability Theory, in one of the focus areas of the research unit Mathematical Stochastics: statistical mechanics, discrete probability, random geometry, Markov chain mixing, Stochastic PDEs
Independent teaching or participation in teaching, in the Bachelor and/or Master programs
Supervision of students
Participation in organizational and administrative tasks of the research unit
Your profile:
Completion of a doctorate
An excellent publication and research profile in theoretical Probability
Experience in national and international research cooperation
Fluency in English
Knowledge of German or willingness to learn it
Teaching experience in probability and/or statistics courses/tutorials and in autonomous organisation of exercise sessions and seminars will be appreciated

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 4,752.30/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
