EWM in Bulgaria, 2022-2024

The Bulgarian section of EWM has 10 members and all of them are already in pension. Three
of them are still working at some Universities. For the period 2022-2024 only 6 members paid
their member fees. We continue having our regular meetings at least three times in a year and
all the time I am sending regular email updates about all EWM events and mathematical
activities around the world.
Some our members took part in scientific sessions at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences as
well as in different scientific projects. One of our members continues participating in the
Standing Committee on Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Computing at The National
Evaluation and Accreditation Agency in Bulgaria. Another our member was a co-organizer of
the Session “Computer Algebra in Education” in the 28th International Conference
“Applications of Computer Algebra”, Poland, Warsaw, July 17-21, 2023 (ACA’2023) and as
well as she had a presentation in it.
Two years ago the coordinator Elena Gavrilova connected with the Director and the Math
teacher of the School for Visually Impaired Children “Lousis Braille”, Sofia. Our section
supported financially the school buying some three-dimensional models for the pupils with
purpose to help them in the process of studying mathematics. Lately a visit at the school was
made where with the Math teacher and some other teachers were discussed the issues they
face.
