EWM-EMS Summer School: “Chromatic Homotopy Theory and Friends”
On June 7-10, 2022, an EWM-EMS summer school entitled “Chromatic Homotopy Theory and Friends” was organized at the Mittag-Leffler institute in Danderyd, Sweden. This hybrid online summer school was designed to attract and retain women mathematicians in the field of chromatic homotopy theory. Its aim was to bring together leading researchers, postdocs, and graduate students working in chromatic homotopy theory and adjacent areas and provide them with an entry point to research in chromatic homotopy theory and opportunity to start collaboration. It was also intended to facilitate mentoring relationships which will improve success and retention of women in chromatic homotopy theory and related areas.
The summer school had Constanze Roitzheim (Kent) as the main speaker, with several more invited talks, very short contributed presentations by the participants, a mentor/mentee meetup, discussion and open problems sessions. There were 29 invited on-site participants, of which 75% identified as female. Funding was provided by the Mittag-Leffler institute, EWM, Foundation Compositio Math, the Knut and Alice Wallenberg foundation, and the NSF.
