The virtual meeting on “EWM and the corona crisis” was held on August 24, 2020.  This meeting was a follow-up on the invitation which EWM members received in July to join an EWM working group to discuss the effect of COVID-19 on untenured scientists and recommend possible measures to help them during the current crisis. A possible output of the working group would be a recommendation that is endorsed by the EWM and sent to major European Institutions.

During the virtual meeting, EWM-members discussed the current ideas of the working group and offered suggestions and recommendations on how the situation for untenured mathematicians could be improved and how institutions should react.

The working group plans to finish the letter by September 10, when it will be forwarded to the convenors for discussion by the EWM standing committee on September 14.
