9 PhD positions in Algebraic Geometry at GRK 2240
In the Graduiertenkolleg/Research Training Group GRK 2240: Algebro-Geometric Methods in Algebra, Arithmetic and Topology, which is located at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and the University of Wuppertal, Germany and funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft,
9 positions for doctoral researchers
(75%, salary scale 13 TV-L)
are to be occupied. The start of the funded doctoral projects is 01.06.2021, at the earliest on 01.04.2021. The employment is initially limited for a period of three years, with an option for prolongation. The positions are qualification positions in the sense of the Act of Academic Fixed-Term Contract (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG), which is to promote the scientific qualification of the employees.
The main goal of the research training group GRK 2240: Algebro-Geometric Methods in Algebra, Arithmetic and Topology is the application of results and techniques of algebraic geometry to pure mathematics, and in particular to the nearby areas of algebra, arithmetic and topology.
We are looking for excellent, highly-motivated applicants (m/f) that hold a master’s degree or equivalent (M.Sc. / M.A. / Diplom / Magister) in mathematics and whose scientific interests fit with the goals of the research training group. The doctoral researches will participate in the common study program and conduct individual research under the guidance of their Ph.D. supervisors.
Approximately half of the positions will be located at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, the other half at the University of Wuppertal.
