Assistant Professor (Education) in Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics at LSE seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor (Education). Their role is to provide excellent academic and pastoral support, and academic activities to enhance the student experience. The post holder is expected to teach and develop mathematics courses and courses involving programming and other computer use, and to assist faculty in expanding the use of computer programming in their courses. A second role is to act as Departmental Tutor for academic advice (e.g. on course choices) and arrangement of pastoral care, primarily for undergraduate students.
Candidates for this post should have a track record of excellence in teaching, a strong commitment to education, the ability to teach computing courses, and experience or interest in using computational tools in mathematics teaching. This is an Education Career Track post, with the prospect of further promotion based on excellence and innovation in education.
Candidates must have a completed PhD in a mathematical subject by the intended start date 2 September 2024 of the post. They should have strong interpersonal and networking skills. Experience of course level leadership, including course design, delivery and management is desirable.
