Departmental Lecturer in Mathematical Physics at Oxford
The Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford, is seeking to appoint a Departmental Lecturer to join its thriving Mathematical Physics group. The appointment is full time, and available for a fixed period of three years, starting from 1st October 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.
As Departmental Lecturer, you will play a key role in contributing to the teaching and administration associated with Mathematical Physics, whilst also having the opportunity to engage in advanced study and academic research in the discipline. Most of the teaching and supervision required will be for graduate programmes, but some undergraduate teaching may also be required.
With a doctorate in mathematics, physics or a related discipline, the successful candidate will demonstrate an aptitude for teaching, and the ability to lecture topics in mathematical physics at an appropriate level and in a stimulating and engaging manner. They will also be able to show evidence of an excellent publication record in accordance with career status (including high-quality papers in the last three years); the ability to devise and carry out an independent programme of research, and sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to carry out high-quality research and supervise research projects, together with experience and competence in administration.
