Expression of interest for postdoc positions in Italy (Sassari, Bergamo and/or Napoli)
Dear all,
we are asking for expressions of interest in postdoctoral positions that will soon be available at the University of Sassari (1 year and half), University of Bergamo (1 year and half) and University of Naples (1 year) on the PRIN project TIGRECO.
The hired postdocs, together with the scientific advisors, will develop mathematical methods to process time-varying signals on graphs both from a theoretical and numerical viewpoint, and finally will test the new methods on concrete applications.
More details on the project can be found below.
To send an expression of interest, please send your CV to imbulai@uniss.it, alessandro.monguzzi@unibg.it or sandra.saliani@unibas.it
In case you’re still a PhD student, please also indicate the presumed date of the PhD defense.

The main goal of TIGRECO (TIme-varying signals on Graphs: REal and COmplex methods) is to introduce new useful mathematical methods to process time-varying signals on graphs. We would like to focus on this aspect both from a theoretical and numerical point of view and by means of concrete applications. A possible application is related to the study of signals such as fMRI (functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) time series used to better understand human brain activity.
The project will have two different main objectives: (O1) Introduce new multiscale transforms for time series on graphs from a rigorous theoretical point of view, also studying the theoretical properties regarding the stability of graph filters and sampling issues for continuous-time graph signals on Paley-Wiener spaces. (O2) Study the numerical aspect of the newly introduced methods, by means of approximation theory, optimization, and parallelization, so that they can be used for applications. Test the introduced methods on concrete examples such as data recorded from the brain (fRMI) to gain more information on the cerebral cortex interactions among distributed areas.
