Applications are invited for a University Lectureship in Probability to commence on 1 October 2021 or by agreement. Appointment will be made at an appropriate point on the scale for University Lecturers and will be for a probationary period of five years with appointment to the retiring age thereafter, subject to satisfactory performance. In exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a supplement to the salary range stated for this role of up to £10,000. Any such supplement would be awarded on the basis of a demonstrable history of exceptional achievement and is entirely at the discretion of the University.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent in mathematics or statistics and be able to demonstrate an outstanding research record in an area of Probability as well as an ability to lecture a range of courses in the Mathematical Tripos.
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out research, give undergraduate and masters-level lectures, and perform other usual departmental duties such as those associated with examinations. They will also be expected to investigate funding opportunities, attend conferences, network with national/international colleagues and give presentations.
