We are looking for a University Assistant Praedoc (PhD position) to join the research team led by Univ. Prof. Dr. Oliver Hahn at the University of Vienna, Austria. Our ideal candidate will bring a pronounced interest in developing and applying cutting edge numerical techniques to model our Universe. You should have a robust and well-founded background in applied mathematics, especially numerical methods for partial differential equations, as well as a solid basic knowledge of statistics and machine learning. We are looking for a colleague who integrates easily in our team, is able to contribute to groundbreaking research independently, and can take charge of delivering impactful results.

You should already have experience with scientific programming. Additional knowledge in high-performance computing, machine learning, or physics (in particular cosmology, general relativity) will be an advantage. The starting date of the contract is negotiable. The employment period is for 4 years from the beginning of the contract.
