PhD positions at MPI-MiS Leipzig (UNIVERSE+)
The Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences in Leipzig offers two PhD positions, to be based in the Algebraic Analysis group of Anna-Laura Sattelberger and the Nonlinear Algebra group of Bernd Sturmfels. The prospective PhD students will be part of “UNIVERSE+: Positive Geometry in Particle Physics and Cosmology”, an interdisciplinary ERC synergy grant between MPI-MiS Leipzig, MPP Munich, IAS Princeton, and the University of Amsterdam.
We are looking for exceptional candidates who are excited about algebraic geometry, in a broad sense, and its applications to fundamental physics. We expect curiosity and openness, experience with mathematical software, strong interpersonal and communicative skills, and willingness to dive into new topics, such as the theory of D-modules.
