Postdoctoral Fellowship in Climate Change Data Science at Basque Center for Applied Mathematics
In the framework of the IKUR Strategy. The “Applied Statistics” research line at the BCAM looks for candidates to work on Climate Change Data Science related projects including spatial downscaling, uncertainty quantification in climate data, climate projections and ensembles.
The research will be carried out in collaboration with BC3 (Basque Center for Climate Change) and other institutions in the Basque Country.

Requirements: Applicants must have their PhD completed before the contract starts. PhD degree preferable in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Environmental Sciences or related fields

Good interpersonal skills.
A proven track record in quality research, as evidenced by research publications in top scientific journals and conferences.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
Ability to present and publish research outcomes in spoken (talks) and written (papers) form.
Ability to effectively communicate and present research ideas to researchers and stakeholders with different backgrounds.
Fluency in spoken and written English
Scientific Profile:
Strong background in mathematics/ probability/statistics and physics.
Background in spatial modelling, spatio-temporal data modelling, spatial downscaling, environmental and climate data modelling, Uncertainty Quantification, Machine Learning (including Gaussian Processes, Neural Networks), Deep Learning architectures, Bayesian computing.
Good programming skills in R, Python, Spark, and/or C/C++.
Knowledge in High Performance Computing (HPC) systems, GIS tools.
Interest and disposition to work in interdisciplinary groups.
