Research Associate in Quantum Limits for Subellitpic Operators
Applications are invited for a Research Associate to work on the project entitled “Quantum limits for sub-elliptic operators”.
The project is led by Dr Veronique Fischer (Principal Investigator, University of Bath, UK) and Professor Clotilde Fermanian-Kammerer (Co-Investigator, Université Paris-Est Créteil, France). It is funded by the Leverhulme Trust (Research Project Grant RPG-2020-037) and seeks to study spectral properties of operators and questions related to partial differential equations in subRiemannian and subelliptic contexts. It builds on the semiclassical approach recently proposed by the two investigators in these settings.
We are looking for someone who already has some expertise and knowledge relevant to the project, for instance in semi-classical analysis or in subRiemannian geometry. You will also be enthusiastic about the subject and willing to learn new methods and areas of mathematics when the research on the project requires it.
You should have a PhD in mathematics, and you will be able to focus on your research as the post carries no teaching or administrative duties. You will be encouraged to conduct research visits and will have access to travel funds to do so.
This is a full-time role based at the University of Bath, and is being offered on a fixed-term basis for 13 months to start after 1 October 2022 by mutual agreement.
For any informal queries or questions please contact Dr Veronique Fischer (v.c.m.fischer@bath.ac.uk) or Professor Clotilde Fermanian-Kammerer (clotilde.fermanian@u-pec.fr), however, please ensure that your application is submitted via the University website.
