Tasks
Researching in an area of mathematical analysis. Teaching in mathematics degree programs (including basic studies) and appropriate participation in teaching offers for other programs. Classes are to be taught in German and English. Further duties include supervising students completing their bachelor’s and master’s theses as well as doctoral candidates and undertaking appropriate academic self-governance duties.
Your research area should be different to those currently pursued by other chairs and workgroups at the Institute of Mathematics but also complement these in a meaningful way, while also enabling links to other applications, especially in those disciplines represented at Technische Universität Berlin. Similarly, active participation in existing and future collaborative projects is expected, in particular the Math+ Cluster of Excellence (including the Berlin Mathematical School), the Berlin International Graduate School in Model and Simulation based Research (BIMoS) and the Interdisciplinary Center for Modeling and Simulation (IMOS).
Further tasks include leadership and management of the chair and of staff, promotion of young scientists, women and social diversity, knowledge and technology transfer, initiatives for internationalization as well as gender- and diversity-competent and sustainability-oriented action.

Requirements
Applicants are required to fulfill the requirements for a professorship as stated in Section 100 BerlHG
(Berlin Higher Education Act). These include a university degree in mathematics, a particular aptitude for academic work, in general demonstrated by a doctorate in mathematics, as well as additional academic achievements and teaching aptitude as demonstrated by teaching experience and a teaching portfolio (for further information, please see the TU Berlin website, https://www.tu.berlin/go209650/).

We are looking for a researcher with an international profile in one of the following areas of mathematical analysis:
Functional analysis and operator theory
Calculus of variations and non-linear partial differential equations (including optimal transport and mathematical foundations of continuum mechanics)
Nonlinear optimization, optimal control and inverse problems
Harmonic analysis and theory of function spaces
Multiscale methods and homogenization
Your specific focus of research should be different to those currently represented at the Institute of Mathematics at Technische Universität Berlin.
Previous research results must be demonstrated by publications in journals with peer review procedures. Experience of third-party funded research and participation in collaborative projects is desired.

Relevant teaching experience and experience of supervising final theses (bachelor’s, master’s) is expected. Experience of supervising doctoral candidates is desired. Experience of academic self-governance is expected.
