Application Deadline April 30, 2024
Two postdoctoral positions in the project Dissipative systems in fluid dynamics
Appointment period: 30 months
Appointment type: Full-time employment contract
Starting date: July 1, 2024
Salary: CZK 48 000 per month
Deadline for applications: April 30, 2024
The Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IM CAS) is seeking two researchers for the project “Dissipative systems in fluid dynamics” coordinated by Prof. Eduard Feireisl and funded by the Czech Science Foundation. Applications are invited from candidates who have completed their PhD within the last 5 years (or will have completed it before the time of hiring), and who have a strong background in the mathematical theory of fluid dynamics. Excellent knowledge of PDEs and functional analysis, including the framework of Sobolev spaces and weak solutions, is required. Both postdoctoral fellows will concentrate on the concept of generalized solutions. One fellow will focus on the applications of the abstract theory for designing efficient numerical schemes, the second one will work on the stability of solutions and their asymptotic behaviour under general, possibly stochastic perturbations. The positions are granted for a maximum of 30 months starting 1 July 2024.
The successful applicant will be based at the Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, and will perform research in the areas of the project. He/she is also expected to take part in activities of the Department of Evolution Differential Equations such as seminars and workshops organized by the group. No teaching is involved.
