The Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna is the largest Austrian institution of mathematical research and tertiary education in the mathematical sciences. It consists of active research groups in a wide range of fields, starting from logical foundations, bridging all classical core subjects, and up to concrete applications in industry. As part of the Faculty, the Institute of Mathematics represents the entire discipline of mathematics in research and teaching, without making an arbitrary separation into pure and applied fields.

Duration of employment: 4 month/s
Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
The advertised position at the Institute for Mathematics is associated with the chair for “Mathematical Finance” of Prof. Mathias Beiglböck. We are looking for an ambitious, independent, goal-oriented scientist with interest in optimal transport and its probabilistic variations. Responsibilities include scientific research, the independent teaching of courses (holding classes within the limits imposed by the collective bargaining agreement) and the conduct of examinations as well as participation in teaching evaluations and in administrative tasks.

Profile:
Diploma or master degree in mathematics, high level of competence in the area of mathematics appropriate for the chosen project.
