At the university location Graz with three universities, there is an established interdisciplinary cooperation network of several research groups in the areas of Inverse Problems, Machine Learning, Optimization and Optimal Control, and Medical Image Processing. The advertised faculty position is part of the research group “Optimization and Optimal Control” at the Institute of Mathematics and Scientific Computing at the University of Graz, and is closely integrated into this cooperation network. The position focuses on research in continuous, infinite-dimensional optimization (analysis and numerics), especially nonsmooth, pde-constrained, and/or stochastic optimization. In addition to cooperation within the group “Optimization and Optimal Control”, the position is characterized by a high degree of autonomy; there is the possibility to conduct independent research, apply for third-party funding projects, teach courses, and supervise theses.
