University professorship (W3) for Data-Driven Scientific Computing (m/f/d)
The Faculty 3 of the University of Koblenz: Mathematics/Natural Sciences works on its leading research theme “Material & Environment” in the three main topics “Material Properties and Functional Surfaces”, “Modeling, Simulation and Optimization”, and “Biodiversity and Ecosystems”. By the thereby related research activities the faculty provides the augmentation of scientific knowledge and solutions for regionally, nationally and internationally relevant mathematical and scientific questions. The Mathematical Institute offers bachelor and master programs (B.Sc./M.Sc.) with a focus on mathematical modeling, simulation and optimization, but also participates in study programs (B.Ed./M.Ed.) training teachers for primary, secondary and vocational schools. The main research topics of the institute are applied mathematics with a main focus on modeling, simulation and optimization as well as didactics of mathematics. Research is conducted in cooperation with national and international partner institutions as well as with the local teacher training colleges. The professorship for data-driven scientific computing is expected to strengthen and complement the simulation expertise of the Mathematical Institute in its key research topics in modeling, simulation and optimization, and should be able to establish joint research activities with the Faculty 4: Informatics.
