Tasks
The successful candidate will represent the field of stochastic processes in its entire breadth in research and teaching,
substantially expand the expertise available at the Institute with contemporary and topical research agenda in stochastic processes, be able to significantly strengthen existing (IRTG 2544, BMS, MATH+) and planned collaborative projects related to the field of stochastic processes.
Responsibilities will include teaching in the mathematics courses (including undergraduate) and appropriate participation in the Mathematics Service. Duties also include supervising students in the preparation of theses and appropriate participation in academic self-governance tasks.
Further tasks include leadership and management of the department and of staff, promotion of young scientists, women and social diversity, knowledge and technology transfer, initiatives for internationalization as well as gender- and diversity-competent and sustainability-oriented action.

Requirements
The recruitment requirements according to § 100 BerlHG must be fulfilled. These include, in particular, a university degree in mathematics or a comparable discipline, special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate in mathematics, additional scientific achievements, which are usually demonstrated by a positively evaluated junior professorship, habilitation or equivalent achievements, as well as pedagogical aptitude, which is documented by a teaching portfolio (for more information on the teaching portfolio, see the website of the Technical University of Berlin: https://www.tu.berlin/go209650/)
It is expected that this professorship will be filled by an internationally established scientist who
– has a proven track record in areas of stochastic processes through high-profile publications (particularly Annals of Probability, Probability Theory and Related Fields, Annals of Applied Probability),
– has appropriate teaching experience ,
comes with experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, e.g., with other mathematical disciplines, physics, biology, or data science,
– has a successful record of acquiring third party funding,
is active in early career training, especially with regard to PhD students/postdocs,
– has an awareness of diversity related matters.
Relevant experience in academic self-governance is desirable.
