At the Institute of Mathematics which is part of the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical
Engineering and Mathematics an
W1 – Assistant Professorship (f/m/d) in Stochastics
is to be filled as soon as possible. The employment is initially for three years in the civil
service relationship, whereby the employment relationship is to be extended for a further
three years after a positive evaluation.
We are looking for a mathematician with research focus in a core area of Stochastics, who
complements the existing research profile at the Department of Mathematics of the
University of Paderborn. Candidates should have demonstrated extraordinary scientific
achievements in the field of Stochastics (relative to their stage of career). The new
Assistant professor is required to contribute to the teaching duties of the Department of
Mathematics including mathematics classes for students of other Departments. Openness
to cooperate with colleagues of the University of Paderborn including participation in third
party funding projects is desired. Willingness to participate in academic self-governance
as well as in the organization of science is required. At the beginning of the junior
professorship, courses can be offered in English as well as German. It is expected that
the candidate will be able to teach in both languages after a transition period. German
courses are available if required.
