W2 Algebra Potsdam
The University of Potsdam, Faculty of Science, Institute of Mathematics, invites applications for a Professorship (W 2) for Algebra to be filled as soon as possible. We are looking for an internationally renowned individual who is active in a modern research field of algebra and who can represent this field in research and teaching. The chosen candidate is expected to establish an active collaboration with the various research groups at the institute in geometry, graph theory, analysis or mathematical physics. In addition, candidates need to have experience in teaching and in the acquisition of external funding.
The successful candidate will teach (linear) algebra in the bachelor’s degree program and the teacher-training degree programs as well as advanced courses in the master’s degree program in mathematics. Moreover, teaching is required in natural science and computer science programs. Courses are taught in both German and English. Non-German speakers are expected to acquire a working knowledge of German within the first three years of their appointment.
