Olena Vaneeva was elected corresponding member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. Olena is Leading Researcher and Vice Head of the Institute of Mathematics at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. She is only the second woman in the Division of Mathematics, which consists of 4 math institutes, who received this high recognition. Out of all newly elected corresponding members to NAS Ukraine, there were 25% women; out of all 28 newly elected academicians (=full members), there is only one woman, the economist O. Borodina.

Olena Vaneeva is EWM’s country coordinator for Ukraine, living and working in Kyiv also in these difficult years for her country.
