The Italian Mathematical Union, by its Gender Equality Committee, in collaboration with CNR, the National Council of Research of Italy, produced a book entitled “The Mirzakhani Issue” for the May 12th with a short graphic novel about Maryam Mirzakhani.

From May 12th at 9 a.m. CEST, Unione Matematica Italiana and Comics&Science will proudly offer the English edition freely online at the link https://umi.dm.unibo.it/2022/04/21/may12-mirzakhani/, while the Italian version will be printed.

The script is written by the young author Davide La Rosa and the drawing is done by the famous Italian author Silvia Ziche. The book is a part of a series of comics books about science produced by CNR under the supervision of Andrea Plazzi and Roberto Natalini: https://www.comicsandscience.it/.

As usual the graphic novel comes with some short articles which are research materials for the readers to go more in depth in the knowledge of the given topics. In particular it features articles giving an account of Mirzakhani’s bio, a popularization of her scientific work, an interview with the authors, a contribution on May 12th by E. Strickland and a memory by I. Daubechies.
