EWM in Georgia, 2018-2020

I have been a member of European Women in  Mathematics since 2009 and I became a coordinator only 3 years ago.

The regular member of EWM was only 5 participants. Unfortunately, one of them died, but 3 mathematicians have expressed a desire to become members of this organization and I hope they will attend the next meeting.

The old active members paid their membership fees directly to EWM and we are going to continue to do so again, as it is a great honor for us to be a member of this organization. I am willing to continue membership as a regional coordinator.

I want to inform you about our activities. International conferences were held by the Georgian Mathematical Society in September 2018 and 2019 at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. I would like to point out that the number of women participating in this conference was 22 percent of the total composition in 2019 and 18 percent in 2018. This is quite a large number because there have always been very few female mathematicians in Georgia. This tendency is gradually changing.

On September 5, 2019, we held a special meeting for EVM members, where we invited other mathematicians as well.  The purpose of this meeting was to share modern scientific achievements, strengthen scientific ties and increase the involvement of women mathematicians and promote future cooperation between scientists. I introduced them to the activities of EVM, after which some of them expressed their desire to become members of this organization and to participate in the meetings prepared by EVM. Such activities will continue.
