EWM in North Macedonia, 2020-2022
As local coordinators of EWM for Macedonia, we hereby declare the following activities
in the abovementioned reporting period:
• Regular email updates to our female colleagues about all EWM events and
activities are sent.
• The Macedonian branch of EWM was presented at the EWM country
coordinators’ online meeting in October 2020.
• On Feb. 11, 2020, for the occasion of the Day of Women and Girls in Science, a
talk by Elena Hadzieva titled “Ada Lovelace – one of the world’s 100 most
influential women” was given. The purpose of the talk was to honor the women in
mathematics and science, specifically the famous female mathematician Ada
Lovelace, the first computer programmer in the world. The talk was given at the
university “St. Paul the Apostle” – Ohrid, Macedonia.
• On Feb. 11, 2022, the gender prevalence of women in mathematics in N.
Macedonia was presented and the EWM – N. Macedonia was introduced in an
interview in a local medium: https://umno.mk/svetski-den-na-zenite-vo-naukata/.
• A meeting with Macedonian women in mathematics is planned in the framework
of the 7th Macedonian Mathematical Congress, which will be held in 2023.
